Hi there! I’m Carolyn, founder of The Skin Lounge. My passion for skincare started almost a decade ago. Ever since I was a little girl, I always dreamt about owning my own medical spa, and making clients feel pampered and confident about themselves in their own skin. After completing my bachelors in psychology at Montclair State University, I decided to pursue my dreams and go to beauty school.
I went to Artistic Academy in 2013 and graduated from the aesthetics program. I then decided to go back for the full cosmetology program. After graduating from both departments and getting my license, I got a job at a plastic surgeon’s office.
I learned a lot about the medical side of aesthetics and then went off to work at a boutique spa. Having knowledge and experience from both the medical and spa sides have helped me create my vision for The Skin Lounge. Thank you for making my vision come to life!
Akram Mustafa, MD, is the Medical Director of The Skin Lounge. Akram is a board certified Internal Medicine physician with several years of experience as a Hospitalist physician at Morristown Medical Center, the #1 Hospital in New Jersey. While he primarily practices Internal Medicine, Dr. Mustafa also has a strong passion for Aesthetics and Skin Care. Dr. Mustafa has extensive knowledge in medical grade aesthetics and enjoys his patients satisfied with their results. “I love when a patient tells me that they now have more confidence in their appearance thanks to my helpful skin care recommendations.” When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Mustafa enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys playing and watching sports.
Jess is a passionate and results-driven esthetician with 5+ years of experience in plastic surgeon offices. Her favorite parts of being an esthetician is designing personalized skin care plans and educating her clients on the importance of at home skin care. Skin care can be overwhelming, but Jess prides herself on keeping things simple for all. She struggled with acne growing up which is what drove her to become an esthetician. She loves helping others clear their skin!
Just like other industries, skin care products and services continue to improve every year with upgraded science and technology. Jess is a strong believer in staying up to date with the latest products and trends so she can recommend the best. Her clients trust her because they see how knowledgeable she is.
She is certified in hydrafacial, SkinPen, Dermaplaning, Chemical Peels, and holds an expert certification with ZO Skin Health. She is also certified in body contouring such as Coolsculpting and Emsculpt Neo. Prior to being an esthetician Jess has worked in various dermatology offices.
Irina is a Certified Surgical PA & Cosmetic Injector.
I am an established physician associate with an extensive clinical background in emergency medicine and surgery. I have a passion for aesthetics and have received clinical training in various aesthetic enhancement techniques including neurotoxin (Botox, Disport, Xeomin, etc.), dermal fillers (Juvaderm, etc.), facial lasers and peels.
My background has provided me with the necessary experience to not only perform various cosmetic procedures, but to also guide my clients in deciding on surgical versus cosmetic procedures for facial enhancement.

Annelise is a results-driven licensed esthetician with 8+ years experience. Annelise previously worked at a high-end spa and salon under the supervision of a board certified Plastic Surgeon. Realizing her passion for the medical side of aesthetics, Annelise decided to take her education one step further and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Her dream is to become an Aesthetic Nurse Injector. She believes that education is the foundation of success, especially in the esthetics industry. She is constantly learning and growing as an esthetician to give her clients the best possible results. Annelise is a Hydrafacial Master, and is certified in chemical peels, microneedling, and dermaplaning.
After nearly a decade in the fashion industry, Amanda decided to follow her passion for skincare-a journey inspired by her own struggle with acne and a desire to help others feel confident in their skin. She is also a certified Pilates instructor and has always been drawn to wellness and self-care. She combines her love for results-driven treatments with the goal of creating a relaxing escape for every client. Amanda is certified in Face Reality, Hydrafacial, dermaplaning, Glo2, Skinpen, and the Helena Pahava Method.
With over 12 years of nursing experience—specializing in Critical Care and now growing in the aesthetics field— Cynthia has developed a passion for helping people feel confident in their own skin. Her approach is all about natural, personalized enhancements.
Cynthia is certified in neurotoxin, filler injectables, Diolaze, Morpheus, and Lumecca.
